Andrés Thompson has been committed to global social change and development for the past 35 years. Andrés was program director for Latin American and the Caribbean at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for sixteen years. Prior, Andrés served as a researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research and the Center for the Study of State and Society in Buenos Aires, where he wrote extensively on women and philanthropy, NGOs, and development. As a consultant, Andrés worked for UNICEF-Argentina, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, and various nonprofit organizations across Latin America. Andrés served as a board member of the International Society for Third Sector Research, the International Committee of the Council of Foundations, and as director of the Argentine magazine “Tercer Sector”. Currently, Andrés works as an independent consultant based in Colonia, Uruguay. He co-leads a project on Women and Philanthropy in Argentina and Uruguay at CEDES (Center for the Study of State and Society) and is an active member of Fondo Región Colonia, a community foundation in Uruguay. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal “Voluntas and a senior fellow of the Synergos Institute and the Center for the Study of Philanthropy and Civil Society at CUNY.
